Welcome to the East Cornwall Mining History Association Web Site.

Background

The ECMHA was formed as a charity (no. 1082887) in 1995 by a group of enthusiasts with a particular interest in the local history & mining heritage of the middle Tamar Valley in East Cornwall. When it acquired property it became a Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee (no. 04061743).

Purpose

  1. The acquisition. renovation. preservation & maintenance of the Luckett Hill Miners' Cottages & East Kit Hill Engine House.
     
  2. To use the above to advance the education of the public in the history & heritage of this part of Cornwall.
     
  3. To preserve & conserve other domestic & industrial buildings & artifacts that remain in East Cornwall, the gateway to Cornwall's great industrial & social history.
     
  4. To involve local people in the projects & to encourage membership of the Association.

A newsletter is published for distribution to the membership. Talks and events - guided walks and workparties - are held for both the membership and the public.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone interested in the history of the area - not only those living there.
